Great Wolf Lodge

Over the Christmas break we took the kids to Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine.
 We had a great time!

Beware of that bucket on the top when it dumps water!

The one we call "The Toilet Bowl".  You come down and around in a spiral fashion until you fall into the bottom section of the ride.
Look out for when the wolf howls, the waves come!
 A great time!

A couple random shots

At Jarin's last Pack meeting they had a drawing for the kids who sold over $700 in popcorn (he did).  It was for an X-Box One.  Guess who won?  He was thrilled!
Justin makes Maddie cookies from time to time.  He frosted these for her with yogurt/peanut butter icing.

Cosmic Choir

Jarin joined the Cosmic Choir this year.  Their school mascot is the Astronauts, so that's why the name "Cosmic".  They had a field trip of sorts where around the holidays they sang at the administration building, at a nursing home and then went for pizza afterwards.  The parents were invited to the admin. building for their performance.
I forgot my camera, so these were on my phone.
They did some great variations of some of the traditional Christmas carols.

Crossover ceremony

Jarin went from being a Cub Scout to being a Boy Scout in December.  The boys have to be in 5th grade and 11 years old (he just turned 11).  This was the ceremony team (Justin is the Medicine Man).
It was one of the coldest nights we've had so far this year that evening, so we were all dressed warmly.

Thanksgiving 2013

We had a house full this year for Thanksgiving.  Joel and Sarah and kids came down, Mike's cousin, Mark, and the Bartz's from the North side of town with their 4 kiddos.
All the pies
Mark brought his new 2014 Corvette over and everyone had to take a ride.  Weldon and Jarin squeezed in somehow.

I was too busy cooking to take any food pictures, but I did catch one of Brynn opening her gifts from us.  Her birthday is the same week.

In November Jarin tested for his Purple/white belt.

He's earned it!!

Last Cub Scout Meeting

Jarin attended his last Cub Scout meeting in December.  He is officially a Boy Scout now!  The Pack had cookies for the boys at the end and they lined up and all shook hands.  We will miss Cub Scouts, but we are happy the boys will finally be on the same Scouting schedule(s).

Veteran's Day Program

For the first half of the year Jarin participated in the school's "Cosmic Choir" (they are the Astronauts).  They got a new music teacher this year after the one who has taught him for the past 5 years retired.  Mrs. B put together a fantastic Veteran's Day program in the evening.  They recognized all the veterans in the room and they filled the gym!
The kids had speaking parts as well as singing parts.
It was a great way to thank our vets for all they do and did for us!

Halloween 2013

This year Halloween was kind of a blur.  We had bought Jarin a costume, but in our haste to get out the door of the store, we failed to try it on.  Long story short, it was too big.  Plan B was to run to CVS (about the only store left with costumes the day before Halloween).  We found the Jester costume and he liked it.  Sold!!  I was working a lot in October and Mike was out of the country, so we had some crazy days.
This year, Jarin's karate instructor decided to host a "Trunk-or-Treat" at the karate place.  Every parent brought a bowl of candy and the kids went car to car to fill their bags.  Jarin enjoyed it, as did all the kids.
With his buddies

These are a few of the 5th graders from his class with his karate instructor, Sensei Shawn.

More random photos

We went to the fair and rodeo in October and met up with several friends.  Miss Shay is a cutie!
We were invited to some friends in October as well for dinner.  Jarin and Nicholas had fun with the electronics.
Jarin's school's fall carnival was in October again this year.  Although it was fun and busy,  I'm thankful that this is my last year to help with this!!  It is a PTO sponsored event.
Jarin won a goldfish at the carnival.  It lived a few months before it flipped out of this covered aquarium.  The aquarium had about a dime size hole to feed it through.  I never knew fish could flip out of something so small, but it did.

Raingutter Regatta

In September Jarin participated in his LAST raingutter regatta!  He is now a Boy Scout, so will no longer participate in Cub Scout activities.  While he didn't take home a trophy this year (he has in the past), he did have a fun time.
