Justin went to Washington DC for Spring Break with the Worldstrides program (pictures to follow). Since he was off having fun, we decided to dig up some fun of our own and take Jarin to Great Wolf Lodge in Dallas.
It's a very Disney-esque place with not just water slides, but all kinds of activities to entertain kids.
This was the robot ice cream maker. He thought it was pretty cool!
The view from our bottom floor room.
They have a game that is played with a wand that you purchase and each hall has something fun in it.
We had to play along and find the clues to win the prize and fight the dragon.
I'm not sure who had more fun with this, him or us!!
They have all sorts of cute critters sitting around in there.
This one howled if you waved your wand at it.
He found some treasure. The wand opened the box.
We had to go back to the screen every time we completed a quest. I've never done so many stairs in one night as this time!
Fighting the dragon
The water slides. We had a great time!!
Wand in action...
Every night they would tell stories at the clock tower. They also had a magician one day that we were there. A fun time!
Now that our boys are a little older (and better behaved) in restaurants, we enjoy taking them out once in a while to fine(r) dining establishments. One evening last month, we took them to The Melting Pot restaurant. They enjoyed dipping their food in the cheese, broth and chocolate. T'was a fun evening!
In February we celebrated our last Blue & Gold Banquet with Jarin making Webelos Rank. He will cross over into Boy Scouts in December (or sooner).
The Great Cake Bake contest was in full effect this year and the theme was Mardi Gras. I put a lot of effort into this cake, knowing it would be our last year to enter the contest. Unfortunately, I didn't win, but the prizes were not too good this year anyway, so I wasn't disappointed. This was the cake I came up with...
Our Webelos Scout. He wasn't too happy about the face paint as he said it got in his eyes.
After the ceremony, they did a parade around the gym with the Webelos riding their scooters. I found the wig at the costume shop. It had lights that flashed in it.
The cake that beat mine out. This lady is a professional fondant maker and has won 3 years in a row. Kinda makes it hard to win with this kind of competition!
Our meal of cuban roasted pork was cooking below the coils (whole pig).
Justin got in on the fun too. This is him with the Cubmaster. Justin is the Den Chief for his den, so helps out with their activities as well.
The inside of my cake
The kids played games and they hired a juggler for entertainment.
He's pretending not to drop them on the Cubmaster!
