You know you're in Texas when...

Your area is under a "tornado watch", it's blowing at 35+ M.P.H. outside and raining cats and dogs and the doorbell rings and it's a door to door salesman...only in Texas! (and might I add, he's one brave soul!)

A game of What?

Yesterday Jarin and I headed out into the 70 some degree weather to "play". We started playing on the swing set in the back yard, but when that got old, he wanted to play tag. He runs at a good little clip for a 5 year old, so around the backyard we chased and tagged each other, me tagging him less than he tagged me (did I mention that the slide is only about 4 1/2 feet high and he can run freely under it, while I on the other hand have to scrunch up and run under it so he had the clear advantage). At one point, he changed the rules. "When I hold up my hand, that means "pause"" he said. So we paused and then he made another rule. "The patio is base". O.K. I can deal with that. So off we ran again playing until he headed up onto the patio and sat down in the chair and started counting. "What are you doing", I said. "We're playing hide and seek". Oh...nice to be informed of these things...I think I'll go hide. So then it was "hide and seek" for a little while until he paused and it was tag again. At the end of it all I was tired out from all the running and scrunching, but what an aerobic workout. Anybody want to borrow a 5 year old for the day...they are better than an aerobic instructor!

Just a short video clip of the Derby

Our B-Z, B-Z weekend

We had a very busy Scouting weekend. Friday night was the Pinewood Derby. Justin did very well and won his first trophy. Saturday morning we headed up to Zuma Fun Center and since Justin was the top popcorn salesman in the Brazos District, he won another trophy. Pizza was provided for the kids as well as free tokens, go carts, mini golf etc. We stayed until about 1:30 or so and had so much fun on the go carts, we ran out of time to do mini golf (we'll have to save that for another time). Saturday night was Scouting night at the Aeros (hockey team). Because of Justin's top sales, he got to help out picking up pucks for the puck toss as well as shoot a puck to the goal at the end of the game. I decided to do these in smilebox format as there are a lot and I wanted to include as many as possible. Enjoy!

He's a winner!

Justin took 2nd place for the Bears Den and 3rd place overall for the Pinewood Derby race. He got his 1st trophy! Will post some more pictures of our weekend later, but we will be taking him to get his 2nd trophy today for the top popcorn sales in our Pack.

Ever the creative child he is...

Justin's been making critters out of Legos again. I'll have to get some more, but here's some of his creations...

Funny Headline for the week posted this headline:

"Cell phone use may disrupt sleep"

Huh? Ya' think so? Maybe it has something to do with when it rings, you wake up and answer it? Go figure!

Some funny Jarinism's

The stuff these little boys come up with...

--Yesterday he and Justin were arguing about something and I overheard him say "Fine...I won't be your brother anymore!"

--Today I've got the radio on and he says "I'm trying to draw. Can you turn it off because when I hear the music it makes my feet want to dance!"

A weekend of relaxing

We had a wonderfully relaxing weekend. Spent some time on Saturday out at Gina's B.'s new house helping her and Cliff unload her stuff. What a great house! Since she doesn't have any pictures posted yet (I'm sure she will post some as soon as she can find her floor-right Gina?), I'll give you a visual. It's a 3 bedroom/2 bathroom with laminate hardwood floors in the living room and hallway. The kitchen has tile and bedrooms are carpeted. It's got a nice brick walkway out the door from the kitchen that leads to a deck out back for patio furniture/plants etc. The front has a fountain (hand spigot that dumps water into a bucket that overflows and dumps the water into the rocks). The 2 car garage has plenty of room for storage too. We're so glad she found a place to call home! Congrats Gina!

We had a big mtg. on Sunday with Loren Q. and Doug M. there.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!

Just to clear things up...

So I confused some of you (Wrena) with my last post. I just said "and to think she COULD", not that I'm voting for her. I have no desire to see her in the White House and she doesn't get my vote. But if you are following the primaries, she is in 2nd only to Obama, so I was just implying that there was a chance. Believe me, I think I've seen enough of Billary!!! Sorry, if I offended any of you Democrats.

Celebrating with Jarin

Make a wish!

After dinner tonight, Justin asked what was for dessert. "Dessert? I don't usually make dessert", I replied (especially when it's just us), but he wanted dessert. Since it was Jarin's birthday we decided to make chocolate chip cookies. He wanted to put a candle in one and sing to Jarin, so we did. We'll have some friends over and have his "official party" on Saturday.

Fireworks on New Year's Eve

Here's a couple I captured

Happy 2008!

We had a very un-eventful New Year's Evening. I've been fighting a cold, so we watched a few fireworks and I went to bed. Mike stayed up a little after 12:00 and saw the new year in. I'm still a little under the weather, but hopefully I'm back on my feet soon. I hope everyone has a great year!
